Having just opened its fourth, but certainly not last location, this dynamic new brand where fresh
food and hospitality are key ingredients, is ready for the next level. They are poised for growth
and need an experienced human resource professional to grow with them! Our flagship store is in
Brooklyn, with additional locations in Maplewood, Newark, and Montclair, NJ. Going forward,
New York City will be a focus for growth as we prepare for additional East Coast expansion.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Manager of Human Resources will lead all HR matters,
including:
1. Recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding of personnel
2. Developing compensation strategies
3. Establishing and maintaining job descriptions and HR policies across the enterprise,
ensuring adherence to company core values.
4. Working with operations concerning employee training and skill acquisition.
5. Overseeing employee reviews and promotions, and use of performance management
tools.
6. Ensuring compliance with local state and federal law employment-related laws and
regulations, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, ADEA, and the ADA
7. Employee relations and the investigation of employee complaints
8. Counseling managers on the handling of difficult employees and the issuance of
discipline
9. Providing counsel concerning, and the approval of, adverse employee action
10. Maintaining the ADP system and overseeing payroll
11. Providing regular reports on employment-related metrics
12. Mentoring managers and employees to promote growth and competency
13. Managing and providing support and guidance to the HR team
14. Working with operations personnel to ensure proper staffing and employee retention
15. Provide advice and guidance on ADA accommodations and LOAs
Demonstrating leadership qualities is essential for the HRM role. We require someone with
strong leadership skills, integrity, judgment, and technical expertise. The HRM should lead by
example, fostering excellence, creativity, and teamwork while serving as a vigilant guardian of
the organization's integrity. Key attributes include
1. Exceptional people management skills for hiring, training, and motivating staff.
2. Effective communication and conflict resolution abilities to facilitate constructive dialogue
and innovation.
3. Strong organizational skills to handle various tasks efficiently.
4. Proficiency in ADP software, along with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
5. Regular reporting on employment-related metrics.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7. Knowledge of NYC and NJ employment laws and regulations.
The HRM will oversee a team consisting of a payroll manager and HR generalist/operations
assistant, making decisions on employee discipline matters.
Requirements include a college degree in a related field and SHRM certification.
